The CHC Pre-Budget Submission 2012-13

The CHC as the peak body for the Complementary Medicines Industry, has been tasked by the Board on behalf of members to achieve major change with decision makers as to the regulatory and commercial environment for the Industry. CHC has elected to undertake a formal program of proactive advocacy with decision makers over a period of 5 years, starting in 2011.

The CHC Pre-Budget Submission forms a critical part of this program of activity. It is the first Submission to be made by the CHC on behalf of the CM Industry and is the culmination of approximately 18 months of preparation including repositioning, 'rebadging', compilation of statistics and direct advocacy to decision makers. 

The submission has been co-written between Hawker Britton, the premier Labor – linked advocacy firm, and the CHC. Now lodged with Treasury, the CHC has a strategic and structured program to support and promote the submission and its key points.

There may be tactical opportunities arising during this period which cannot be planned for but will be handled, including reactive media interviews, other stories that may ‘cloud’ the CM media space or policy directions and changes promoted by other stakeholders.
