CHC Guideline for the Sale and Supply of Practitioner Only Products
The objective of the Guideline for the Sale and Supply of Practitioner Only Products is to provide guidance to the complementary healthcare industry on the appropriate content of practitioner only (PO) product guides and technical manuals to comply with the provisions in the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989, the Therapeutic Goods Regulations 1990, and the Therapeutic Goods Advertising Code 2007, as amended from time to time.
Guidance was recommended for industry after it became evident that some practitioner only product guides were inappropriately promoting Listed practitioner only complementary medicines for indications that were not on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG), including the treatment of serious health conditions. The TGA allowed a period of amnesty for industry to update any guides that were non-compliant, and this amnesty period ends in March 2012.
The Practitioner Medicine Technical Committee (PMTC) contributed to the development of this guideline, with additional input from the secretariat and from TGA Advertising Unit representatives.

CHC Guideline for the Quality and Safety of Raw Materials used in Complementary Medicines
This Guideline for Raw Materials has been developed to assist members by defining principles and setting benchmarks for assuring the quality and safety of all raw materials to be used in complementary medicines.
The guideline is intended to be followed by Industry to minimise the risk of breaching relevant legislation, to enhance consumer confidence in the quality and safety of complementary medicines, and to maintain and enhance the credibility and the sustainability of the complementary medicines industry.
